“Did you go after him?” asked Ahab.
“I didn’t want to. Isn’t one arm enough? What would I do without this other arm? I know there is a lot of oil in him, but he is the best let alone; don’t you think so, Captain?” said the Englishman, pointing to Captain Ahab’s ivory leg.
“Yes, he is best let alone, but what is best let alone sometimes attracts, and Moby Dick is like a magnet! How long since you saw him? Which way was he going?” said Ahab getting very excited.
“My God!” cried out the English ship’s doctor. “This man’s blood is boiling - bring the thermometer.”
“Leave me alone,” shouted Ahab and knocked the doctor down.
“Good God!” cried the English Captain. “Are you crazy!”
“Let’s leave this boat,” shouted Ahab.
Ahab and his men left the English ship and returned to the Pequod. The hunt for Moby Dick continued.
